New water pump and timing belt required?

Hi,

I'm wondering if anyone can help me? I have a Citroen Saxo R reg.
I noticed my temperature warning light kept coming on so I checked to see if there was coolant in the radiator which there was.
I took it to a Garage. They advised that the there was a noise coming from the Water Pump and that the water was not circulating very well, therefore I will need a new Water pump and timing belt at a cost of £326.
I took the car away from them and got another quote for £240 from another Garage.
But now I am wondering if it really needs changing, or if there is a cheaper way I can do this, or should I get a second opinion?

I would appreciate any help here.

Try bleeding the radiator and see it ends up being free

It could be many things causing this, try a different garage to diagnose the problem. It could be as simple as a new thermostat.
