4-2-1 manifold VTS

alright guys, im looking into getting a 4-2-1 while i got my VTS in peices. what sort of gain am i looking at getting (people with RR proof would be good) and which manifold is better for a VTS 4-1 or 4-2-1?

    thanks guys

4-2-1 on most cars unless you have lairy cams and other mods etc that take the main power high in the rev range, if that is the case them 4-1. Upto you really though, but 4-2-1 is the most popular.

Supersprint from Kam, don't know exact gains unfortunatly. I would expect about 5bhp ish, maybe a lil more but all engines are different so it's hard to tell, it could make one figure on one car and a completely different one on another.

it doesnt really matter on a road car that much. The ideal is a 4-2-1 but the 4-1 manifolds like pipers see good gains also.

thanks for the input. just debaiting weather or not its worth chucking one on or not while its in bits...

One gain you will get for 101% is a gain of weight, thats for sure!

Some sound increase as well, and I am not sure myself what to think, some other people here think the same the rev kick about 4-5k isn't felt that strong, maybe cause its pulling just better before these 4-5k s. Down about 1-2k it feels like the engine got more torque, but maybe it depends on my race cat instead of the original 400 cspi ceramic thing.

    I own myself a Raceland 4-2-1

No he wont. The standard manifold is cast iron as weighs a tonne, where as a good aftermarket 4-2-1 will be a lot lighter.

Yeah hehe sorry my english isn't that great, you are right

I meant a gain of weight loss or power/weight ratio

As said prev may not make much diff but the main thing I realised is the VTS revs a lot easier.

I'd prob avoid the Raceland as it seems to be unable to keep the heat in, like so

they have a rep for snapping when cooling down.

I have the SuperSprint 421, its expensive but ive never seen it look like that, well worth in.

glowing, hence the "unable to keep the heat in part"

    Yea it's glowing.

They all do the same job, it just avoid the raceland and tuning leader shite.

    Supersprint 4-2-1 are excellent.

this might be a stupid question but would it be ok to keep the original cat system cos i dont plan on decatting it just leave that standard or would it be best to get a full system?
  15. #15
Yeah i read that but have never seen a manifold glow that much / or that colour lol

janspeed 4-2-1 on mine and that's lovely.. sounds mint too even when i had the standard backbox on it.

thats a VTR though, couldnt comment on a VTS

if you say you are going cams with your £1500 get a 4-1 because it will benefit the gains of having the rev-band shifted better than a 4-2-1

standard cat will restrict it a bit try and get a sports cat if your not going to de-cat
