Noisy power steering pump-can it be overhauled?

   I've recently bought a 1997 Saxo 1.5 SXD, and although the power steering works fine, it's got a horrendously noisy electric pump! (grrrrrrr!) i'm told i'ts quite common on these cars, and i was just wondering if the bearing in it can be changed, or will i need to get another pump, if so is it a diy job to change it? any advice greatly appreciated regards, Dave.

   I believe they can be overhauled but its cheaper to either buy a reconditioned 1 or 2nd hand 1 from ebay.

   How long/how many miles has yours been like it? i only bought this car a week and a half ago, and didn't realise what the problem was! (just wondering how long i got before it gives up the ghost) beer tokens are running a bit low! hahaha!

   hahah ive had mine 18 months lol and its still just as noisy lol
