car wont run, too much fuel??

im not sure if this is the right section(feel free to move if its not).

well my m8 bought a 1.4 westcoast yesterday, as a non runner, the lad who sold it didnt knw what was wrong with it,

before it gets a new engine i want just make sure we have done everything,

here a run down of what we have changed and what its doing.

    new plugs
    new coil pack
    new fuel filter
    new battery
    new crank sensor

when we try start it, it fires and wants to go, but then after a few turns of the key it floods the plugs with petrol, not just wet (soaking).trying to start it, it blow the fuel filter off.
its like its sending to much petrol to the engine.

i've read about the single injection engine having a fuel persure senor, that returns the excess petrol back to the fuel tank,
dos the multi injection engine have this and if so could this be our problem?(if so where is it located on the engine)

any ideas, before we give up and buy new engine ?

    massive progress this afternoon,
got car put on a diagnostic machine, it found that some relay under the ECU had gone, ( didnt really make much sense to me) but what ever the relay was it cost a £5, and the car runs sweet as,
    my mates well chuffed,
bargin car at grand total £400, and that includes the diesel to go and tow it back,

he said thanks to you all for all your help,

    fuel pump relay then

diagnostics are allways the best option imo
saves spending 100s on sensors not at fault

Id have a look at the fuel pressure regulator/pump being damaged or something. Injection cars dont seem to flood though, its a carb thing tbh.

the machine didnt actually pin point the exact fault, it couldnt find it,
it was the lad in the garage that suggested it.

he reset things too , what ever that means lol, tbh i dont really get the termanology they use.
