Does Your Saxo Have Air-Conditioning?

  1. #1
Mine does.. still havent found another with it?
  2. #2
Mine has windows which sometimes work pretty well, no air con though!
  3. #3
lol.. might have to invest in some of these"Windows" they sound the sex and are said to work well. aha
  4. #4
Only the imports do. Im guessing yours is left hand drive?
  5. #5
Dont really need Air con in the UK though lol

Cracking the window normally works well enough
  6. #6
Well i dont know my saxo does turn into an oven in the summer.
  7. #7
Nope, right hand drive with aircon and Electric mirrors,

its an imported VTR (1.4 here)
  8. #8

    ive an irish vtr.
    mine doesnt have it
  9. #9
ive got some bad pics of the buttons but i'll get under the bonnet and get some of the air-con unit etc.
  10. #10
  11. #11
just realised you say your VTR is a 1.4???

UK VTR's are 1.6 8v are they not?

    Strange :s
  12. #12
yep its a furio in uk spec
  13. #13
    Its an imported VTR.. *IMPORT*

Dont know where from.. Left Hand drive though
  14. #14
Uk VTRs are 1.6 importedvtrs are a pretty much a 1.4 furio with vtr brake and suspension set up. Never heard to have aircon tho a previous mod by a owner??

Nope, pretty common on European models, which is why this will have it, with it being an import.

Still a rarity over here though.
  16. #16
I doubt it would be worth putting air-con into a saxo lmao.. looks a propa job like and the buttons must be custom then.
  17. #17
    Sounds ace tho top marks
  18. #18
    Window does the trick.

Owell pretty unique on here then id say

"you can use ya windows , i will just waste my petrol on being COOL haha"
  20. #20
    Haha.

Must be a continental thing, as yours is an import, cos I've never seen one with air con.
  21. #21
as far as i know air con cant be installed on right hand drive cars because of the position of the steering rack or somethin

Mythbusters proved that its better to use your aircon than drive with the windows down
  25. #25
So wasnt an aftermarket install then

Mythbusters haha used to love that programme

Depends on the speed your travelling.

The important question. With this being a Saxo at the end of the day is; Does it actually work?

  28. #28

So is it left hand drive or right?, never heard of one tbh

If your car is right hand drive & has aircon then its a aftermarket kit.

The reason no UK spec saxos have it is due to the arrangement of the engein bay, the compressor (which runs off the auxiliary belt) & aircon unit need to be on the same side of the car, the aircon unit itself being just beyond the passenger footwell.

In a right hand drive car the passenger footwell is replaced by the drivers footwell & due to the pedals etc there just isn't room for it. There is also another component to the system which lives in the front window wiper motor's compartment, since out wipers are on the other side of the car its another limiting factor.

Citroen tried a work around rerouteing pipes across to the other side of the car but it was noisy & inefficient so they never bothered manufacturing it in the end.

everytime i see a vts its stated that theres air con. electric windows electric seats etc... i thought it was standard in a vts TBH lol,,, wouldnt it make it heavier?

Sorry i meant to put right hand drive that time mate..

Its an import but i dont know where from..

Cant see someone wanting to put aircon into a saxo aftermarket though

Would be more hassel than its worth
  34. #34
When your looking at the engine bay also.. (So battery on your right and Ecu on your left.. the aircon pump thingy is left of the engine and above the Alternator. I'll get a pic soon
  35. #35
As said only left hand drives can hav AirCon.

Thats the only place a compressor can be since it needs to be driven from the auxiliary belt that runs the alternator.

Is your car right or left hand drive? You have said both so far!

Yh i know lol i put left my accident, its right hand drive so the side where the ECU is...
  38. #38
Well that is a mystery then mate! take a bunch of pics around the engine bay would ya? Be nice to find out what kit you have!
  39. #39
Yeah will do mate , dying to know the deal with it like lol
  40. #40
I was reading up about the saxo aircon situation a while back cause i'm touring europe in the summer in it & thought it'd be nice to have some cool air lol. The only kit i could find was gonna cost upwards of £1000 for the kit alone! Rather have a supercharger than cold air for that dosh lol.
  41. #41
Thats my point, when ppl say that its an aftermarket kit... i mean comeon.. whos gna pay 1K for COLD AIR on a Furio?? lol

I think its pretty unique me though

Al get some pics tommorow if i can mate, picking a vtr up tommorow for 180 quid so al have some pics of that up too lol

im pretty glad mine doesnt have a/c heard it adds alot of weight? plus the window is my solution , feel all american using a/c
  47. #47
Bump it up.. just been on Wikipedia and it does say that right hand drive saxos dont have air-con... BUT

"Air-conditioning was never an option on right-hand-drive Saxo's because the blower motor was mounted in the bulk-head on the drivers side. As a result, there was insufficient space available to accommodate the evaporator, except by first ducting the air flow to the passenger side and then at the expense of the glove-box."

This will explain why a normal glove box wont fit in mine, its cut short as there is a big pipe or something in the way.. this would be the air-flow for the air-con?
