Important! : Clutch Snapped?

  1. #1
    So annoyed off right now.

Just before going down to Bude - My clutch decides to blow up on me. I pressed the clutch down, it went bang / pop and fell into the floor.

Now, I think the cable is OK, but the plastic on the top of the clutch pedal is snapped, anyone know what this actually is? What have I broke?

    Argh - French car..

Its been away to a garage this morning - They rang me saying that the cable is in tact and that something about the something in the release bearing of the clutch as blown? I need a new clutch?

They want £258 to fit a new clutch and to fix it.

What the hell? Surely thats mental.

Thats not that expensive for a clutch change to be honest. Some people get quoted £300+

When my release bearing went i was pulling away and there was a bang and the pedal went to the floor. My release bearing sounded so bad so i knew it was the bearing. Had the clutch and bearing changed at the same time.

The guy who changed it said the release bearing was completely destroyed.

Now i change my own clutch. Its not too bad a job if your handy and it saves you a packet!!
