Removing the strut for wheel bearing fitting

    Right my brothers bearing in the strut needs changing, i know how to remove the stut, but does the drive shaft have to be removed or could i get away with leaving it on and just lowering the strut enough to remove the springs etc,

    or would i cause damaged to the driveshaft leaving it connected and lowering the strut?
