Fuel consumption query on VTS

OK basiclly I want to know if my consumption is about right because its doing my head in..

Full tank, £40 ish quid yeah?

Reset the trip meter and im getting 180-220 miles from it and then 200-240 when I drive like my parents.. What does everyone else get?

EDIT: Simply want to know what other VTS owners have to say... I really don't want to read replies like "Get a 1.1" or "get over it, its not a 1.4"

Had question bud becuase it depends on many factor like depends on how its driven, what fuel you use, when did it last get serviced,do you use redex or summin similar to clear out filters etc. on average id say ur VTS is about right. Soz im not much help mate but every engine will be different depending on how it was looked after and used etc

    Where are you driving? Town/Motorway?

    Tyre pressures all ok?

    Last service?

    Heavy foot?

    Read Adsayers mpg guide.

Tbh the least I've got from a tank is 250 in mine all town work

    go to www.spritmonitor.de
lots of other saxo owners log mpg details, including adsayer i think.

I get just under 300 from a tank but i mainly drive up and down the motorway at 90ish. Don't really drive economical to be honest.
I'd say you could do with a good service. Also depends on what you have done to your car?

I usually drive a fair bit of dual carriage ways and a lot of town driving for work.. All I have done is open cone filter and put the supersprint race section on...

The car was serviced 3000 miles ago and im just waiting for the weather to become a bit nicer to flush the engine and change every possible filter, including the fuel one..

And yeah, I do tend to drive with a rather heavy foot...

Tyre pressures are all at 35psi, check them weekly

From looking at some of the logs I am getting underaverage mind

    95octane fuel hmmmm

If you drive with a heavy foot then your going to use more fuel.

I could rinse a tank in my VTS very quickly if I drove hard.

heavy foot =22mpg or 220miles to the tank.
light foot =44mpg or 440miles to the tank.

yep 9.9 gallon tank. i eeked 450 from a tank driving carfully. but usuayl i average a good 370miles combined from a tank.

lately though with the cold weahter i find i have been using a bit more fuel due to a more dense fuel charge i have been told.

Hmmm, I drive with heavy foot on the mainroads like the link roads and motorways but not around town...

Cardiff is just too full of cameras for that mind... whats bizare is one week i drove a full tank like my mum would drive the car, changing gear before 2.5k rpm and being in 5th in a 30 zone.. got 220 ish, drive like a looney off another tank and i get about 200.. Driving me nuts

dont open cone filters make you use a bit more fuel ?
  12. #12
I done about 320 miles using about 3/4 of a tank recently.

Being in 5th at 30 is not good. 4th would see you better.

Tbh. I like to give mine some beans and If I got under 300 miles from a tank I'd be pretty pissed. Driving like a granny doesn't necessarily mean you're driving economically.

Lucky Fcuker, now I'm really confused about my fueling dissapearing...

...Does this happen with anyone else, bang on half a tank after driving around... park up, switch the ignition off.. come back to the car and then your on about 1/4 - 1/3 of fuel remaning? The amount of times this has happend and there are no vile smells coming from anywhere, no apparant leaks anywhere whatsoever...

Also, pops, bangs and undoubtedly flames from the zorst are a results of overfueling.. pops and bangs on almost every gear change and flames on every gear change above 4500rpm...

The fuel gauge will settle itself when its been sat, so it does move. Park facing downhill and you gain fuel, park facing uphill and you lose fuel

When I picked my VTS up. I filled it with fuel and did the 360 mile journey home and then took It down the pub (around another 15 miles) before my light came on. And I ragged the silly tits off it when I got off the m'ways.

Like I said earlier. Just because you're driving slowly, doesn't mean you're being economical.

i normally get around 270 to a full tank, but i work 4 miles from my house and it doesnt get used to do much else lol, and its all 30 mph driving in town
