so im thinking of taking the sander to the sax, and getting the chalkboard off!
and im thinking about doing it in the next few weeks!

get the black off, and it will have the origional Quartz underneath!
now i used to prep cars for paint with my mate at his body shop for extra cash and what not, so i dont mind scotching and rubbing it down and smoothing off / filling and such!

just wondering really, Primer in a can, like the stuff from halfords that we all use to prime our headlights and dash trims lol. . . . could i basically use that for the base coat before it goes in for a spray job or would i need to get some better stuff?

would be running around in primer for about a week tops and we all know the effects of not having a finished coat in crap weather

Don`t use the stuff for dashboards etc as its for plastic get hold of some filler primer it sprays on yellow you really need a top coat on as quickly as possible because primers only designed for use as a base coat (ie underneath the top coat)in time the rust will show its ugly head.As said though Hammerite would do the job.

filler primer wont be any use for a base coat, it does as it says fills in bigger sanding marks and defects, its very soft and with it being unprotected it will more than likely chip very easily

youd be best off giving it a good sand down and then use a grey primer as normal

remember primer is only used to fill in sanding marks and to make any imperfections stand out, one primer is on use wet and dry about a 1500 or 2000 to get it smooth ready for the paint

but as said i wouldnt even bother priming it and then driving about as your just gonna get water and dirt into it and the paint may not adhere properly

got to be my pet hate people driving about with cars in primer
