i have just bought a supersprint manifold for my vts which comes in 2 pieces is it necessary to get it welded or can you get a good seal just using sealant?
supersprint manifold

#1

#2If it's anything like my mates supersprint, it should be a sleeved joint, so you can get a seal by bolting it together as it comes
-
#3couldnt welding disturb air flow from the inside?
-
#4Definitely get it welded, I had an 8V Supersprint and it always seemed to blow at that joint. Just make sure the sleeve is pushed on as far as possible before welding, place some wood over the flange and hammer it on if need be - just stops the whole of the exhaust system being pushed back.
-
#6Yeh weld it, theyre a cunt and always end up blowing after a week or 2 of being Gun Gummed.
-
#7Cheers for the advice going to get it welded
-
#8why dont supersprint weld them, instead of selling 2 pieces?
ss charge enough dont they? lazy barstewards.
raceland etc manage to sell complete manifolds, i just dont get it. -
#9Not sure - might be easier to package up and ship being in two parts?

#12mines bolted together and is fine
-
#13Should seal together fine if you are using the correct clamps and sealant. Dont use the paste style sealant. Use VHT Silicone.
-
#15Mine was just bolted together using gungum and it was fine.
Sold it to a mate and its still fine, you'll never have an issue of blowing its done properly
But ye, id weld it to make sure lol
