hi there. my car recently just seemed its clutch wanted to die. it still catches in gear slightly but not much. the clutch never slipped before now. it can hold itself up just very very slack. is clutch buggered or does it need just topping with new fluid, cable etc? cheers :Y:

#2What do you mean by catches in gear?
And what do you mean byits can hold itself up but very slack? -
#3i thnk mines about to go if it goes mate you will know the clutch thrust bearing will go and no car
-
#4car will go into gear but whenm you go to move of it will move very slowley and when you press gas itll just shoot up revs. also the pedal doesnt just drop it supports itself as it usually would but when you press it it just falls to the floor
-
#5what your revs will race up and your car wont move as such ?
-
#6Release bearing....
Input shaft sleeve bit coulda cracked too. -
#8very strange tho i just chjanged gear (granny shifting) at 2.5k into 5th gear lifted clutch up and it shot up so i pressed accelrator and revs just shot up. never did that before. dont understajd how it can just go without slipping first tbh

#9So its in gear and when u release the throttle the revs remain where they should be and gradually decline. Though when you give it some throttle the revs just increase like its in neutral?

#11Just take it to a garage, they will tell you straight awat as they can drive the car.

#12Release bearing or the metal sleeve on the input shaft on the gearbox.Quote:yes mate thats correct. i can put it in any gear i want like normal as well
Release bearing is £17 though its as much effort as fitting a new clutch so £80ish for clutch at trade price.
If its the input shaft then itll be a new gearbox and clutch as the clutch has probs been worn too.1 user thanked this post:
