Rear wheel problem

    Hi All,

Over the past couple of days I've experienced what feels like a shudder or vibrating noise when driving. It happend again today when I left work everything seemed ok at first then about 10 mins into my drive home I could feel this shudder like thing. Only seems to happen for maybe 5 mins or so then goes back to normal. I've also noticed a sort of rubbing noise since I had new rear pads fitted when the car was serviced in Oct last year. At first I thought it could just be the new pads bedding themselves in but to be honest what I know about cars I could write on a stamp!! I've had a search through some of the old posts and decided to jack the rear of the car up to see if there was any play in the rear wheels. The rear passenger wheel wobbles a tiny bit when wobbled up and down and the rear drivers side wobbles ever so slightly. Does it sound like it could be the bearings from what I've described? Like I said I'm no pro when it comes to cars so have no idea really. I have to drive nearly 20 miles to work each day and I'm a bit worried this could turn into something nasty. I'm obviously going to get it booked into the garage ASAP but just wondered what any of you experts think. Is it fucked and is it going to cost me a small fortune

    Thanks for reading

So just pray to god it's only the wheel bearing then? The movement in the wheels when jacked up isn't excessive, It's only slight movement when wobbled up an down not so much side to side the the rear drivers wheel wobbles even less. What's bugging me too is the rubbing/catching noise I can also hear. Can only hear it when driving slowly down a side street with the windows down, deff sounds like it's coming from the rear passenger side wheel. I must admit the pads where only replaced in Oct 09 and they seem to have nearly gone already, much more than the front pads plus there's always more brake dust on rear wheels then the front.
