how to change shocks

    hi , ive brought some 60mm springs, and shocks,, a mate of mine is going to be lower my car at the weekend, but he has never changed socks..So How do you go about changing the shocks...

    Don't go into it blind matey,m for the cash it'll cost probably better to get someone in the know to fit them, even more so if intending on having the rear lowered too.

    Plenty of guides on here just a case of searching

    he knows a fair bit about stuff, and has lowerd a few cars , including mine before 40mm, but he has never chaged the shocks/dampers w.e they are called, so do these just bolt on/off or slide off the suspesion leg

    You strip down the strut assembly as he would as if he was going to change the springs. And attached to the top of the strut is a big brass nut which requires a special pronged tool to undo i.e a pair of mole grips

    Unscrew that nut/cap thing. Pull the old shock out, put the new one back in. Tighten nut and then re-assemble the rest with the new springs.

    also a quick question, not sure how to put it in words , but bear with me... on my new shocks (second hand but new to me lol) i can push the silver bar into the shock, and it stays down, is this ok...

    not really no, should rebound

    im sure mine didnt rebound back aswell

    thats the word i was looking for rebound lol,, i thought the tension in the spring will make it rebound
