Ok, as title said im trying to remove my manifold ive got it loose but having trouble getting it out from between the engine & radiator.. i think it can be unbolted in the middle to make it into 2 pieces but im having a real job getting at the bolts and one of them has started to round off.. any suggestions please? thanks

im kinda in a rush and didnt want to start a new thread guys and this was the only thread i could find.. im trying to get all the oil off my engine block as i had a leak... only problem is the manifold is obviously in the way.. just wondering do i just undo the nuts on the manifold and does it simply come off? or is it much more completecated. basically just want it out of the way whilst i clean it all up then put it back on afterwards.

Good lad for not starting a new thread.

Theres also two lambda sensors you need to unplug, and then theres a bolt underneath near the lower engine mount.

Takes about 10 minutes for someone with mechanical knowledge to take a manifold off.

thanks well im not greatly mechanically minded but if i can simply take it off by removing bolt and the sensors i think i can do it... but just to make sure is there little chance that i could seriously damage the car? i like to try and do things myself lol only way to learn really.

No real danger aslong as you're careful.. Especially when removing it.. Try not to bang it on the radiator.

The sensors are really easy to unplug, if you don't know how you'll probably break them. Take your time and becareful and you won't break anything.

To disconnect the sensors theres a red part that you can get your finger/flathead-screwdriver behind, pull it out and the two clips will come apart a little bit. Pull it further and the clips will come further apart. Then once its fully extended out pull the clips apart from each other.

^ Don't know if i've explained that well enough, its hard to explain. You'll see once you start

change of plan.... my manifold is the one without the cat.. and i see only one lambda sensor. and i am also seeing no red clip on this sensor.

Hardest part is the 17mm bolt to the gearbox under the car, it's a ball ache to line up on refitting.

Follow the wiring back from the sensor, it clips into the engine bay loom.

Its that clip you need to undo. Easy peezey.

You'll also have to undo the two bolts connecting downpipe to exhaust, (they have springs on so make note how they go on).
