Drivers Side Tail Light Goes Off When Brakes Are Used

   I have a very weird problem with the drivers side brake light, which goes away for a bit (Not sure how long as i cant check whilst driving) if you give it a bash.
   
   If the lights are on and the brakes are applied, the brake light and the normal light (tail light?) both go off, and only the passenger side works (Ive removed the one inside for the time being)
   
   But if the lights are off, the brake light wont be very bright (To be honest, it looks about the same brightness as just having the tail lights on)
   
   Ive removed the case and checked the wires, but all seems fine. Obviously the problem lies in that part as it goes if you bash it
   
   Any ideas?

   is the bulb in the right way if not try changing board that holds bulbs

   Bad earth or a short in the wiring somewhere mate.

   Probably a short mate. Would be easier to go to a scrappy and get a new lighting board.

   Or something incredibly stupid like the wrong bulb being used, or one of the twin filaments having blown.

   Would getting some of them Lexus style lights solve the problem if its the lighting board? As i was planning to get some anyway
