Important! : Clicking noise when turning the wheels

ok so the problem is when i turn my wheels it gets to a certain point then just like clicks as if it was catching on somthing

my powersteering doesnt seem to be the best its harder to turn right thean left

any idea's what this could be ?

car is not lowerd at all

idea's would be helpfull

Err, not too sure mate, I know that there are 2 types for cars with or without abs. I think their the same though other than that. ie. mk1 and mk2 non-abs are all the same and mk1 and mk2 abs ones are all the same. I double check though. go to europarts website and type in your car reg, it'll tell you what bits you need.

sounds like cv same happened 2 me 2 days ago clickin then one day felt like wheel was wobbling easier 2 go breakers buy complete shaft with cv i paid 45 quid 45 min later job done almost post mk 1 and mk2 are different tho hope that helps m8

I only payed £55 for a brand new one from Europarts... I think a better option than a scrappy as you don't know how old it is.

yeh only thing is just let my dad drive the car and he says its not the CV joint as its not a constant clicking on full lock.

its midway through lock right and left asif it was catching on somthing stopping the wheel from turning briefley and clicking then normal again no noise on full lock while turning so presumably not the CV or drive shaft ?

could the steering be catching on somthing ?

was that 4 a new shaft and cv m8 cuz i found sometimes the top part of shaft had gone on mine so was easier replacin whole shaft with cv but am rite bout how old it may been or what abuse its had lucky 4 me my m8 owns citroen brakers so i do have the benefit of knowing where it came from

Yeah, a lot better if you know the scrappies like.

Yeah it was a full shaft, i changed the pair on mine as they were both noisey.

Sounds like changing the drive shaft would be the first thing to do mate. should have looked at it a bit sooner if your going to be doing that kind of millage though

sorry m8 still sound like cv 2 me m8 thats the generally noise it makes when fucked was told by breakdown bloke it was cv when i removed shaft found it was join at top part of shaft that goes into gearbox that had collapsed and before broke it was clickin and sometime clunking when turning 2 right sorry cant think anything else geez just going from my experience since changing av ad no probs touch wood

lol would have if i had my car back just got it back today from the body shop

and yeh its more a clunk in the middle of lock than anything else so i dont think it would be the cv afterall

as it only does it at low speeds and doesnt get worse wen cornering only wen turning the wheel more than 1/2 lock

Could be a ball joint, loose suspension top mount, worn trackrod ends... anything. don't know if you say it ain't the cv joint it could be owt.

dunno, i'll leave it to someone else to help as that's the only ideas i can think of. Good luck.
