cutting out and not starting issue

   So been a while,my 2000 vtr cut out on me last night for no reason we tried to bump start it and still didnt work we got it working eventually so i drove it round a corner and it cut out again.when i try to start it up it just makes a clicking noise just once and everything cuts off again,so basically it doesn't start.any idea's? if it's going to cost too much i might just sell it

   Anyone? also could it be immobiliser? cos iirc the light comes on with the others but now it don't come on at all :/
