VTR Starting Issue

    Hiii,

    I recently bought a 52 plate VTR. Drove like 500 miles in it and it's now picking up a few problems.

    First issue;
    When starting early in the morning from cold, the car simply doesn't start without about a 1/4 of throttle.
    It will stall unless I leave it to idle at about 1500 RPM (With my foot on the throttle) for about 1 minute.
    Any idea what this could be?

    Second issue;
    I was driving a long trip a few days ago, and the car started to judder and lost all power. I had my foot to the floor in second gear and was going no where! I turned the car off and back on and the car seemed to be in like "Limp Mode". Tried it out the next day and was really under-powered, got to about 60mph in 3rd gear - Strange thing was, it had no rev limiter, just didn't rev much past 4000 RPM...
    I put some Redex and Super-Unleaded in the car and it seems normal again, but what could have caused this?

    the first issue you have my dad had it on his clio, he changed ICV and fuel relay and then it stopped so it might be one of them 2.

    your second problem to me sounds like also seems linked to your first problem cuase my dads clio lost power aswell.

    hey mate i am pretty sure the second problem and possibly your first problem is due to the coil pack on its way out

    could be a few things, including what's been mentioned above. Could just be a bit of water if you drove it during the floods. If so, it shouldn't be a problem for too long.

    Anyway, if you just bought it then have it serviced. Air/fuel filters, spark plugs. Have the rad fluid checked, changed if necessary.

    Might be that you ran the car till the fuel tank hit rock bottom and picked up all the dirt at the bottom of it. Defo have the fuel filter changed, and don't buy your fuel from supermarkets.
