poundland spray paint??

  1. #1
my local poundland has got loads of different car spray paints in atm, would it be ok to spay alloys with this paint aslong as i spay halfrauds lacure over the top of it or would it be poor quality paint?

i used some on my grill when it went grey and its still shiny black even after the rubbish winter we had

    cheers
  2. #2
halfords laquer imo is shit. end of. and i cant say i have tryied pound land paint.
  3. #3
ive used it, its actually ok, im currently doing my vtr's with the white 'primer' from poundland, but yet it seems to be gloss haha. its turning out nice, and for a pound a tin, its definately worth it, if only they did clear lacquer!
  4. #4
My wheels was done in white "primer". About 6 months ago still fine..
  5. #5
Be careful with shite paint, alot of lacquer's will react with it.
  6. #6
ive used the grey primer and gloss black before, done my mirrors and my old vtr wheels and other little bits, cant fault it and at £1 a can cant go wrong
  7. #7
ha, ive just seen the same tin as the pound shop stuff on ebay for like 4 quid, what a rip
  8. #8
looks like i will be buying from pound land then i might just get the lacure and primer from a different shop if halfords stuff is shite

    cheers

  16. #16
    so they're good are they?
what primer would i need if my wheels are black and want to spray them white?
  17. #17
doesnt really matter tbh m8, you shudnt be able to see the primer at all once the paint as been done bt on the safe side i wud go with white
  18. #18

  22. #22
Used before and it wasnt to bad mate
  23. #23
Atleast he used the search function.
  24. #24
everything i have sprayed has been primed in pounland primer, i figured it wont be seen yadda yadda and the quality of paint & laquer i use is really good anyway

for £1 its well worth it.
  25. #25
OMFG!!! awsomeness at its best i was just about to start a thread with exact same question.i jus got some pug 205 gti's for 90 quid with gd tyres.goin to do them gloss black at wk end
  26. #26

  27. #27

  28. #28

    This!!!!!

Does the price not give you any clues to the quality?
  32. #32
I actually cant believe ive never even thought of poundland for paint!
    Gonna give it a try
  33. #33
Halfords was quite expensive sods poundland offer alot of colours
  34. #34
got some yesterday to try it on interior vents, got grey primer and white gloss and the stuff is lethal, sprayed outside and the smell of it followed me in its that bloody strong. finish isnt all that grate but what do you expect for a quid, gonna sand off and get some better stuff.

maybe useful for touching up alloys but dont go near if you want a decent job. hope this helps some of ya
  35. #35
saw this thread last week, popped into poundland to pick up some blank CD's and saw the spray paints, so i brought a grey primer, Black and a white primer which is basically gloss white. Definetly work a pound.
  36. #36
I have resprayed my VTS wheels with this stuff, its actually really good and gives a nice finish
  37. #37
lil update done a few more coats and a bit better prep and im quite happy with the result. the gloss is nice and shiny. so yeah worth the pound but seriously take more time than normal and be prepared for the smell
  38. #38
I used it to spray my centre console and, interior bits i wouldnt use it on alloys,i am,spraying my wheels wheels, tommorrow paid,40 quid for,the paint brightest white you can get. Also the pound shop paint, doesnt seem to last

I agree with this 100% it's a cellulose paint so it's all thinners and basically shit it is full of voc has no uv qualities so whatever shine you get will last no time at all and for the people who say it's good quality you need to get out more and see some proper paint finishes done by the pro's and people who have a clue.

    Rant over.

mate i bought some a few weeks back to tidy up a mini quad for a mate, was nearly sick when i realised it was cellulose, crippled mylung for days

the paint wouldnt adhere or anything, it was coming out like cob webs...and after 3 hours drying time..i touched it to see if it was tacky... and it peeled off on my finger

    primer was still totally intact
  42. #42
Yeah mate I used some once to paint the house numbers on the gate and never again. The best aerosol by far is u-pol it comes in 600ml cans is fully voc compliant (won't kill you or the earth) and is uv and buffer safe in 3 hours and for the extra 3 quid it's well worth it (I don't advise aerosol at all but if needs must use upol.)
  43. #43
I would try poundlands stuff, But poundland are f##kers and say you have to be 21 to buy any spray in there yet i can go to any other shop and its 18 poundland are gay
  44. #44
    lmao renouff

yeah bedford, tbh the u-pol stuff is only £3 a tin, as with most paint if you got to a body shop...

sprayed some wilkinsons lacquer on it yesterday and it burnt threw the poundland paint in places quite gutted as the white gloss poundland paint had a nice shiny finish to it in the end
