Hi there removed my clutch today and went to fit a new one. However the new clutch won't fit properly and the hole is to wide for the bearing. When I brought it I quoted the veichle reg I'm thinking the engine has a replacement even though it was still a silver top. Is a later silvertop engine clutch diffrent from earlier? And in what ways?many thanks

#1

#2shouldnt be any different
iirc there all 180mm -
#3Dunno when I spoke to bloke he said my car was on the crossover. The old clutch looks pretty much the same tho tbh.
-
#4what bit is wrong with it i dont really understand the post
relese bearing wont go over the input shaft?? -
#5VTs are 200m aint they and model minor to that is 180mm.
Mk1 and Mk2 have different pressure plate fittings. Mk1 have 3 sets of 2 bolt holes. Mk2 have 6 bolts evenly spaced on the pressure plate. That should be the only difference. -
#6Right ok it's the plate mate
-
#7So basically its the largest part of the clutch kit (pressure plate) and the holes for the bolts dont align on the flywheel?
-
#8Bang on mate
tbh I'm just following the haynes and replacing the broken ones for new
-
#9That will be the problem then.
Find out what clutch kit you have. Look at the bolt holes. Are they evenly placed or are they in 3 offset couples?
If its evenly spaced and dosent fit, then ask for a 1997 clutch kit to make sure.
If its the 3 sets of 2 bolt holes then ask for a 2003 clutch kit to make sure.
Make sure you tell them its for a VTR.
Which irc are 200mm, but double check on the size

#13The clutch I got was evenly spaced holes where as the one from the car has 3 offset couples that mean I need a 2003 clutch kit??
