help needed asap

   hi
   my vts was running fine but had slight hesertaion when sat in traffic and when driving, it used to be a few seconds sounding like it was going to stall but then used to rev it self back to what it should.
   so yesterday while at a friends garage he pluged it into the computer and it come up with the knock sensor and lamba, he cleared the codes there didnt come back on and the computer said everything was working as it should but since leaveing the garage 5 mins later the car had no power over 2000 rpm and sounded like it was running on 3 pots, the garage was shut after this time so phoned he said disconnect the battery which helped for 10 mins then the problem came stright back, the car isnt drive able as carnt even get to 30 with out it stalling, he suspects its the idle control valve???
   
   any one have any ideas from what it could be??
   
   iv have tryed the search but couldnt find anything

   this is one of the most common faults... could be loads of things... check lamda sensor by mani, mite b ICV, or injectors / fuel pump etc...

   should have just looked a few threads down thrs the problem i have but carnt drive the car cause it jus has no power fink its gunna stayin tucked up in the garage till pay day and going to just buy a lamba sensor and icv sensor see if that solves the problem

   or and the engine managment light hasnt come one which is making me think it dont work lol

   you mention it feels like its on 3 cylinders.... i reckon its none of them... i think its either injectors, or engine temperature sensor... either way try nt to drive it,
   way to tell... put your hand by exhaust on idle... check if its pumpin lwt looks like black soot out, that way you will be able to tell if its running lean or nt etc..

   well just tuck the heat sheild off the manifold to find that it has a universal lamba sensor and the wireing looks like its melted apart could this be part of the problem as it only happens after the car has been stood for around 10 mins and warmed up??

    When you ring/or go in a motorspares place they should take your reg so you get the right part.

    ok just av seen a few on ebay as most places just suply universal ones and am wanting a direct replacment one as said above it has a universal one atm and the wiring has melted where its joined
    
    but just had a quick go at rewiring it and has done the trick and idles and drives fine for now
