Toyo R888's, do they kill parts?

Looking into a set of spare wheels and some r888's for the saxo for this summers track days.

How ever I have heard a few horror storys saying that all the extra grip puts extra wear on bearings and gearboxes etc and kills them off quick.

Anyone had any issues to report?

    Cheers

the more grip, the more stress there will be on the cars suspension and transmission, so they will wear at an increased rate. But I wouldnt say its a problem.

racing the car on a track will wear the components quicker than normal.... r888s or not...

yer obviously I expect the car the wear. Its had its fair share of drive components already due to the times its spent on track. Just wondered if there was an imidiate effect after a few sessions compared to carry on using the current goodyear f1's for everything

in short yes, extra grip means that other components will feel more wear to, though it shouldnt be anything that wouldnt normally need replacing through general wear just may accelerate it. but if these are spare and only used on track days you wont really notice any difference as most wear will come from driving on the limit

the only stories ive heard about R888's is people spending time on track without a sump baffle have had issues with oil surge and blown engines

Certain cars do struggle with oil surgees but then there is allot of cars that cope fine with every good suspension setups.

I run slicks without a baffled sump and cant say I have seen the oil pressure guage drop at all. I get alot of fuel surge but i dont think the tu engines are that prone to oil surge.

unless you are referring to a different type of engine?
