Sealing exhaust joints!

   Im trying to seal the exhaust from blowing on my mk2 vtr between the cat and centre section. ive ordered a new gasket which should hopefully come today i was just wondering if i need to put any exhaust paste etc on aswell or will the gasket sort it? reason i ask is because the gasket on there now doesnt seem too bad and its blowing like mad so im just hoping the new 1 stops it! these are the mesh ring type gaskets by the way. cheers

   Is your cat still in your manifold or are you using a mk1 cat for any reason?
   
   The wire mesh gasket should be enough to seal between the mani and centre section(or cat on mk1)
   
   remove the centre section, fit the gasket then make sure you push the centre section up to the mani tightly. My standard system is a cunt to get tight enough to stop it blowing.

   The systems all standard apart from the backbox and yeah the cat is in the manifold just having a job to get it tight enough to seal just hope the gasket sorts it out.. not sure what to do with it if it doesnt

   Fire gasket should sort it which youve ordered

   should be fine then
   
   you might feel a bit of air leaking, but once its coked up it will be sealed
