Screeching noise

   This isnt urgent but thought i would see if any1 has suggestions while im on the computer.. when i start up my saxo from cold it screeches but goes off when the engines warmed up. dont think its any belts etc sounds like its comin from the side of the engine bay the battery is on would be great to sort it out as its just one of those little annoying things! thanks. car is a MK2 VTR

   It more than likely will be the drive belt slipping, quite a few peoples do it, including mine. Tightning it wont do anything as its just condensation forming and causing the belt not to grip properly (I asked Kwik-Fit about it when i took it for its MOT)
   
   Apparently you can put talc on the belt, but try to avoid getting any in the alternator.

   that or its the power steering motor. mine whines alot when cold too

   I though't my Crank pulley had gone, had belt adjusted at garage, and now the sound goes as soon as i pull off.
