got a mk2 vtr with no performance mods apart from centre section, backbox and air filter......

yesterday i did about 50 miles on a tenner. i wasnt driving that economically at all times, but still, should it be as low as 50 miles??

    and ive changed my lambda.

Tenner of petrol is about, say, just under 9 litres now. So not even 2 gallons. You must have got around 30mpg and you weren't driving that economically.

Possibly a good service and check your tyre pressures but I can't see much wrong with that.

Have a read of the saving fuel sticky at the top of the problems & queries page if you wanna get serious with saving fuel.

It's also impossible to tell how many miles you do on a tenner. It's just not accurate.

I put £10 in this morning it got me 7.8 ltrs or something like that. Soo 50miles isnt bad really. Stop start driving ?
I have done 62miles on an eco drive today without start stop town driving

As above stop start driving seems to empty the petrol, or maybe a service?

Na i done the service on it a couple of months ago

The 16" wheels may be making your speedo and hence odometer read low?

yeah its all stop start driving, most is like 5 miles at once, normally 1-2 miles then stop, etc when out in cars with mates

drove economically for the past 2 days and got 85 miles on £15 so not bad i spose

At £1.10 a litre that's 27.5mpg - really poor! You should be getting at the worst 30-35 in town and at best 40-45 on a run. Next time you are out get up to 70mph and note how many revs your engine is doing, should be about 3200rpm IIRC.

I am still thinking along the lines of your speedo lying because of diferent size wheels you have on mate. Otherwise giving her a good service and using the techniques in the sticky should see you right.

lol i only get about 55miles to a tenner at £1.09 ltr and thats eco driving ohh yeah!! watch that needle fall
might have somthing to do with though that all my tyres slightly low were down by 5psi on front two and think was about 3psi on the back hadnt checked them for a while thought was bit heavy on the steering, will put another ten in tomorrow see if it has improved it hoppfully has

Not taking it a garage they charge too much and try and rip me off cus i'm a woman. Had the car about 10 months Don't think it's been looked after so much since ive had it.
