    ok,
just been offered an unlocked ecu that has been re mapped....
it should add 12 bhp and 15 foot pound torque..
it also has had the limiter changed to 8k!!!
will this be ok and more to the point will it be good for the car??
    cheers

Ignore it - the map should be pretty individual for your car so IMO I'd leave it well alone

Depends what it's been mapped for exactly?

If it's been mapped for a car with cams, exhaust, manifold etc and you're running standard cam etc, then it's useless for you.

But theres no reason it shouldn't run sweet on your car providing you have the same mods on your's as he has had it mapped for.

Not really as every engine is different and performs differently

Aslong as it's just mapped for basic mods it wont be a problem. The A/F ratio even if not spot on the standard ECU has a small amount of leerway to adjust itself, which it does thousands of times a second. So if your spec is the same as his then it shouldn't be a problem.

Your standard map goes out the window and the car will run the new map but if you have the same setup then it should barely be any different.

If hes your mate and local then plug it in and give it a try.

What exactly is the ECU mapped for?
