Sudden loss of power - engine management light

  1. #1
Went to the petrol station this morning and put £10 worth of premium unleaded in i then drove 5 miles to work and as a came to a roundabout my cluth seemed to slip as i changed gear and i experienced a sudden loss of power. My engine management light started flashing and i had lost alot of compression had to put my foot right down to keep it runnig and it sounded really noisey almosy scooby sounding like. So im guessing it went into safety mode. But ive never had a problem with the car since i bought it over a year ago, and never had the light come on.

Im thinking.. Was it dodgey petrol as the garage was a bit pikey? (it was defo super unleaded)

Was it my clutch given up or just coincident?

Im lost really. Mot is this month coming too. Anyone had this problem before?

I did notice inthe car notes when i bought it that it had a random missfire once but the kid said it was water in the spark plug and from when i bought it until now its been running sweet.

    Please help!! Arrrrghhh

    Right a little update:

i took it to a garage the same day and put it on the diagnosis, and it cam back with no errors, so they reset the ecu and the lights now gone. Ive driven approx 20 miles since and nothing has gone wrong yet.

The guy in the garage mentioned my exhaust was quite ratterly (standard pipe just dif backbox) because ive had it lowered for some timenow the cat does get bashed unavoidily sometimes. So the guy kinda said oh i think it might be to do with fumes getting blocked or the catalyc convertorbeing fucmed basically. Anyway, just thought it respond so if anyone else gets the same prob then it might help ID it.

Excuse the poor spelling and grammar as always!

Bad news is, i think its gunna go pop again and my mot is in 2 weeks!

i had exactly this 2 weeks ago. clutch felt weird and it was misfiring and sounding like a scooby fixed it last weekend by buying a new coilpack for £50. fitted it in about 5 mins and its now solved
