Is this a vts box as i did a serch and its comeing up as a 1.5 desiel box.

And I dont think im paying 160 for that i will return it.

Can someone verify this for me thanx dean.

according to the guide on ssc its a diesel box. what does the bell housing look like? IIRC "sport" boxes are ribbed

The 20cc61 is the saxo 1.4i 1996-1999 gearbox.

So it's deffo not a vts box then ?.

Ok just phoned the place i got it from and the bloke is saying its a 106 gti gearbox and and whoever said its a diesel box is wrong so the code on the side of the box is lieing and that ill have to send it back at my own expense.

ask him to prove to you in writing with written evidence that its from a valver.... bet he cant....

enough said.... always double check when buying

It looks rather shiney any chance the guy could of build the box from scratch and put vts gears in the diesel casing?

box looks like it has been 'bull-s****ed up'

Shy of pulling it apart or fitting it, no really way of knowing what it has inside tbh.

Either send it back, and buy a vts box not from a scrappy - or at least get a gearbox code off them before buying it

    OR

Fit it and put up with whatever ratios it is

This is the main reason I've never bought a gearbox from a scrappy - am always very nervous about buying parts from them when I can't see the part before buying it.

best part of scrappies is that you can look around and then take the parts off yourself, so you know what your getting.

Well this is where i am the box is either a 1.5 diesel or a saxo X 1.1 gearbox i dont no but im keeping the box anyways and will fit it at the weekend cannot listen to that whing any fucking longer.

Then im going to send the box i have taken out to black diamond to recon so i no i have a vts box.

If its A diesel im not looking forward to lag......

If its a 1.1 wont notice much diff in accelration term top end will suck thoe not that you need it tbh

Has a diesel box + vts lump been done that you no of ?

    How would I do this.... e.g 1st at 30mph 6000rpm , 2nd at 50mph 6500rpm etc and you could go by that

    Yeh can do

If you record the rpm at certain speeds in certain gears we should be able to confirm what box it is - or at least speculate as to what box it is if it's been opened up before and played about with.

If not then it's just a diesel box.
