Kam racing group N discs? cheap?

  1. #1
Hey all, the group N discs on kam racing seem extraordinarily cheap for discs. Are they any good?
    cheers
  2. #2
ive been running these for a while - seem to be spot on

Will buy them again when mine run low
  3. #3
I just liked the look of them as they aren't grooved or drilled so the pads will last.
They any more effective than the standard discs or are they just harder wearing?
  4. #4
I fitted a set on Waynes Saxo , to be honest they look no different to standard discs ?
  5. #5
grp n parts may look standard but do perfrom better than oe.... my lower arms look like standard... but are grp n from gmc and its now stiff as

ive also got kams grp n disks on mine... but havnt driven it yet, im sure theyre better
  6. #6
how much where the lower arms?? and does it really feel that diffrent?
  7. #7
lower arms not cheap a pair was just over 400 sheets, the rubbers are very stiff and is stiffer... ive also got billies from gmc.... all i need know is to get rid of the gmax springs for some decent lb-age ones...
  8. #8
didnt think they would be... but make a diffrence??
  9. #9
cheaper than pug sport.... and stiffer than oe
  10. #10
How much are they compared to standard discs?
  11. #11
    These are what I'm running:

But that's a gti6 caliper conversion aswell so that would make a big difference. i was talking about the ones for the standard setup
  13. #13
maxtorque me too... 266mm. No idea price difference over oe... call citreon to see but they will be more expensive i think.

Should of just brought the bushes and fitted them on standard arms. exactly the same and soooo much cheaper.

If using std 247mm discs --no point in buying dearer ones --they are so cheap anyway --pad material is another thing .
the problem is that the 247mm are just too small for serious thrashing ,not enough mass to absorb the the heat ,
once you go larger to 266 or 283mm the problems go way and std type discs are fine ,with good pads .
It is more important that you get the brake bias valve reset after lowering the suspension --if that is not correct you will have the fronts doing too much work and that will overheat the discs.
we used to race the ax /saxo on std good quality 283mm discs ,and just changed them once a season ,lot cheaper than buying silly priced rotors and exotic pads .
you will smoke the fronts on std grade pads + discs at 283mm size-
-once you are locking the wheels you cannot get any better braking

is the brake bias valve resetting an easy job? doesnt the bias vavle reset itself ??
  20. #20
    no it doesnt reset itself

easy job jack the rear of the car up on the passenger side, remove road wheel, above the arb/trailing arm there is a spring with a nut on loosen this a few turns drop the car down and take for a drive see if the rear locks and adjust if nesccery!
  21. #21
ah ok this hasnt been done on mine but no locking up of the rear wheels though... so i guess all is well????

Just bought some these myself earlier this morning from Kamracing

The price is very good for these especially as to replace my Tarox disks it would have been £200 for just the fronts, when these are every bit as good and ive got fronts and rears for just over £100 inc vat and p&p.

    Ah yes my mistake.

If I wanted to split hairs I'd say their shipping was a little cheaper but it's all swings and roundabouts really, I'll no doubt end up going through you guys anyways - your site has prettier pictures

Thought it would be worth mentioning that although shipping costs vary, i ordered mine from Kamracing yesterday afternoon, and they arrived on my doorstep before lunchtime today.

You can't fault that for customer service! especially as i did check rally design out of interest and they werent even displayed as an in stock item despite being there on the website

Keep up the good work Kam Racing

I agree to a certain extent though it depends on a lot of factors including how light your car is and how good the suspension. We've run a trackday 205 which was 750kg including driver and it used standard pads and discs. Admittedly it was overheating the pads at silverstone due to the longer straights but it coped better than we expected. It got upgraded with a better compound pad and was rather cost effective to maintain. The faster your car is though the more speed and therefore more heat will need to be dissipated to get round each corner and I expect your race saxo's were faster . I'm trying to get another 100kg off the weight in the cars next incarnation so will be using standard size vented discs to start with as it will hopefully allow me to use some 3kg 13" alloys.
