Fitting Engine Wiring Loom.

  1. #1
Need a new engine wiring loom as the original has burntAll the wires are completely ruined, so I got a new one was just wondering if anyone would be able to tell me if I would be able to fit it myself ? Or is it quite difficult to fit ? Me and friends aren't the best when it comes to fitting some things, but were not completely stupid either lol. Any replys would be really appreciated Thanks guys.

you'd be able to fit it yourself easily !!

just a matter of unplugging the old loom, noting where it was routed and its locating lugs

Then put the new one in, route it correctly and secure it

Thanks mate, each time when I was trying to get hold of one they were asking me is it single point or multi point and other questions, I have a 1.1 saxo, I was telling some places make and model of car engine size and year, they says yes we have that model I says that I needed an engine wiring loom, they says oh sorry but theres all differnt types of wiring looms? Surely the wiring loom in a 1.1x saxo would go straight into mines as theyre the same model ?

there are a lot of different types of engine looms as some of them will have a single plug that's different.

You can have 3 plug Ecu's and Single plug Ecu's

And single point injection (not 100% if the 1.1 was a multi point injection - don't think so tbh)

If I was you I'd get an engine loom from a 1.1 the same year as your car - what year is it out of curiosity ?

Its a p reg mate, its only got one long plug going into the ECU, only way I can describe the plug shape is bigger then a scart for a TV but similar shape? One plug into the ecu then looks like it splits into 3 wires ?

Yeh, you have a single plug Ecu.

If you post up a picture of your engine bay can tell you if its multi point injection of single point for sure - i'm 99% it'll be single point.

Just try and get a 1.1 engine loom for a P reg if possible,

Get the serial number off the ECU, when u phone the breakers (if thats where your getting it from) ask them what the ECU serial number is for their ECU. They might make somthing up just to avoid selling the loom, as that would make it harder to sell the engine.

take a pic, go down the yard hunt for saxo's doubel check pic and ecu... should be fine
