physically taking gearbox off the car`

  1. #1
i've took everything off all bolts everything

when i pull it off the bolt that goes through the engine mount under the battery just hits the chassis

and i can;t seem to get the box to come 100% off the car as the middle shaft is still attached ,

how the balls do i get it off, me and my dad have wiggled it away for about an hour now

Get an engine crane, loosen the gearbox mount then lower it slowly at an angle

take the upper gearbox mount off, then gearbox will lower down fine.

Just have to put the mount back on when the gearbox i half in position when re-fitting it.

Asabove, also jack the car up and drop the gearbox out the bottom.

If the bolt/stud is still catching on the battery try with the mount undone then take the mounting plate off the gearbox 3 x 13mm's

Youll need to pull it far to the right btw so the input shaft somes out.

To the op, that's the mount I meant - not the upper gearbox mount itself (the rubber part)

Apologies as I should have been a bit clearer my bad

the whole rubbe rbits out its and the bolt is out of the mount hole but just hits the chassis when i try pull it accross

i wanted to do that and remove the gearbox side of the mount but i can;t get to the 3 bolts because of the tray the mount is in

can undo them with a 13mm spanner ?

I normally crack them off with a normal spanner, then use a ratchet spanner to take them out

Yeh, you should be able to get to them even when the gearbox is still fully fitted mate.

right that might be the plan then gonna have to wait till tomorrow now tho and i'll just soak it in wd40 for the night

its nearly totally off , the flywheel is clearly visable and only on by that shaft so hopefully that should do it

    cheers guys
