Cylinder head question

What head if any, would go onto a westcoast 1.4 engine, to give it a lil extra 'umph' I will also be looking for a Cam for it too and possibly a rallye inlet.

(I know most of you would just say put a VTR/S engine in it but i want to keep it a 1.4 and see what i can get out it lol Im abit stubbon like that, also its kinda boring to just do a conversion )

hey mate i think most heads will fit tbh

and if your really interested in doing this, i would say find yourself a rallye or xsi head as theres a few nocking about

also get a cam, now like i said if you defo wanna do it then thee isactually a cam for sale on rallye reg atm, hes after 150posted nd its brand new, but will accept offers as h needs it gone, and i tihnk thats a bargain tbh
also its a nice cam too, will defo need a remap, its the ph2 newmans cam
which actually is wilder/just as wild as ph3 cam depending on which one you look at

but if you use one of these heads you ill need the rallye/xsi injectors, and also to run ht leads

if you want more info check my thread out as i have the ph2 cam with rallye head and inlet on my vtr and im making 120bhp unmapped atm

plus a freind of mine ran this set up, ph2, s1 rallye head and inlet on his 2000 furio and made 119bhp wih remap from chipwizards, he had rev limite set at 7800 bywayn, he didnt want it that high but it was still making good power lol. im sure he said the peak power was about 7k too, i will double check with him though as he told me a very long time ago lol so i may be way off haha

EDIT: just spoke to him and he made 104hp atw, roughly 120bhp at the fly, and it made 104lbft torque at wheels too, he cant remember where it made peak torque and peak power
but he got these figures, with vtr inlet (which is still btter than std furio inlet iirc) ph2 cam, s1 rallye head, janspeed mani and i cant remember what exhaust he had, so expect a couple more bhp with s1 inlet
    hope that helps

ahaha that sounds epic i may start collecting parts then cheers for the info matey

no probs mate, it is a very good option tbh mate, i love mine, itsazing, sounds good and just revs like mad, i really really need higher limiter as 6200 really isnt enough

but also i may hve something that will be of interest to you aswell that could improve a few things and may get away without a remap, what plug is your ecu? is it the3 plug or single? im sure its single on yours though as my mates was single on his 2000 furio

main reason i say is cause i have an adater that fits single plug westy/furio loom, so you can ue the s1 rallye ecu....
benifits will be 7200rpm limiter, already mapped for mild cam as they are 270deg std, so you should see some good gains still tbh
only thing is you will need to plumb a return fuel line in as the s1 rallye uses one

It is a single plug! so i just swap out my std ECU and put this adapter in its place and then a S1 rallye ECU. what would this do if i used it on a standard spec? nothing?

erm it would run shit tbh cause it will be fueling way out so will ignition timing, as it will be trying to fuel for bigger cam and biggger inlet

plus on your furio with std cam you ont need to rev to 7k lol cause it will run out of puff before it gets to 6k

id say if you run bigger cam and s1 inlet then this will be good to use, and it does work as i used it on my vtr bt i rewired up lambda wrong and didnt plum return in so was very lumpy and barely held idle

and i managed to use this on my vtr cause i used the 16v loom which uses same ecu side plug as westy/quicky/single plug furio

but it will just go straight onto your car so you wont need to mss about with things apart from plumb a fuel return line in, and theres a guide for the fuel return line on here too

Sweeeeeeet! I will bare this in mind when i have some spare time and cash and the car is repaired from its minor incident hahaah

Bin looking at a few bits but i just wanna ask would i be better using an S1 rallye ECU or an S2? and im assuming you ment an S1 head not the S2 16V one?

Could be a daft question but i were unsure :/
  9. #9
its the s1 rallye ecu i have, but since you car is a 1.4 ou will be better with this ecu, and the s2 isnt a 16v its 8v, but still its a 1.6 so wont be too good on your car

and the s1/s2 heads are the same also the 1.6 xsi head is the same as rallye heads, but the 1.4 xsi head is the same just uses a different cam

my bad i was told they were 16v nevermind.

so all the heads are the same just the cams and ECUs differ.

Im only asking cause i came across a S1 ECU on ebay quite cheap and wondered if that was the one i would need, might as well start collecting the bits lol
