3 stud brakes

    my stopping power is poo!! i mean REALLY bad.

    the pads and disks seem fine, no leaks in pipes, pedal isnt too soft, been bled twice at a garage because i thought i was doing somethink wrong.
    but still no joy.

    i dont realy fancy going down the conversion route tbh.

    do you think a decent set of disks and pads will help (mintex or somethink)

    any suggestions please... i need this sorting asap before i end up killing meself

    i have red dots groved and drilled wkd mate. Obv if you upgrade the disks you have to upgrade pads

    its a 1.1 m8 no need what so ever for drilled and grooved... they just crack so easy with the heat anyway

    ahh. hmm well you can get red dots for 50 pound a set. I thought you had that car in your DP haha

    shit pad material? Ive found that some are brilliant and some are awful. Paid 34quid (yes, ouch) for some brake pads and they dont fade as quickly!

    change the brake fluid and put braided brake hoses on makes a big diffrence.

    Try some branded discs and pads.

    Can't be any worse than standard.

    try and find some citroen ax gt brakes there bigger! i had them on one of my old 106's

    I had mintex on my 1.1 and they seemed fine

    Bigger yes, worth the ridiculous amount of work and parts needed to fit them no.

    AX GT brakes are either

    - Mk1 258mm disc so larger, but use a older caliper than your standard one. The ones on saxos actually replaced the GT caliper on later models.

    - Mk2 247mm disc so yes larger than standard, but these use the EXACT same caliper as 4 stud 1.1 brakes and are essentially the exact same braking system.

    Problem is with either of these setups you need the ENTIRE AX suspension leg. Not fun. Finding a set in good nick from a (at best) 12 year old to (at worst) 20 year old car is a whore.

    4 stud is the EASIEST, CHEAPEST and MOST EFFECTIVE brake conversion available to 3 studders, as the best 3 stud brakes are actually the worst 4 stud ones... go figure.

    i pay £130 a set for my pads!
    That is for a road going 306 s16!

    But as said try some quality pads and disks.
    Then could look in braided brakelines.
    I supply sets that will fit.

    Get it on an mot brake test machine and c what it pulls.
