    Hey guys looking to buying another saxo after crashing yesterday =/
    what do you think of this?


    IN RUNNING ORDER BUT HAS 1 NOISEY TAPPET ,THE ENGINE BLOCK & GEARBOX ARE FROM AN 02 PLATE VTR ,THE ORIGINAL ENGINE FOR THIS CAR GAVE UP THE GHOST,SO WAS REPLACED BY MY MATE ,IT COULD DO WITH SOME FINE TUNING ,THE BODYWORK IS NOT TO BAD A SMALL DENT IN NEARSIDE FRONT WING ,SOME PATCHES OF LAQUER PEEL ON THE ROOF,AS YOU CAN SEE IT IS NOT A ROLLS ROYCE SO DONT EXPECT ONE ,EVERYTHING ON IT WORKS ITS FITTED WITH A SET OF WOLFRACE VOODOO ALLOYS HAS BEEN LOWERED BY 40mm BIG BORE EXHAUST CLEAR REAR LIGHT LENSES,IT IS MOT UNTIL 19TH JUNE BUT IS ON A SORN NOTICE, WOULD MAKE AN IDEAL PROJECT CAR OR COULD BE USED AS A DONOR VEHICLE IF SO DESIRED .high milage but 02 plate engine has only done 53,000 miles ,


    What does it mean noisy Tappet is that bad?
    opinions please?

    also would you know if the tappets are hydraulic or not?

    vtr arn't hydraulic

    you can adjust them to various clearances - haynes tells you them but they can differ if you fit an uprated camshaft

    there not hydraulic on a VTR and are adjustable but its prob a biger issue causing the noise (cant say for deffinate without hearing it)
    but from reading the advert id say its prob worth about £200 max

    Hydraulic tappets are only fitted to vts engines vtr tappets can be adjusted so then they won`t be so loud the worst case scenario is a new set of tappets(won`t cost the earth).Low oil pressure can make an engine soud tappety too.

    Start the car take it for a slow drive around the block then make your mind up.
