gearboxes from rovers

ive read a thread on ssc and found talk about the MA gearbox fitted to metros and smaller powered k series engines. but the bigger powered engines have a PG1 type gearbox for handling higher torque. i didnt quite catch if this was a reversable thing meaning with the correct bell housing you could fit the PG1 gearbox to the TU series engine. what are your guesses?.. im not sure but when i had my rover and i took the engine out, the gearbox looked the same as cit/pug boxes and i cant remember where the starter motor was mounted..
so do anybody have any idea`s on this one?..
im sure some of you charged fellas will have some clue to this, so whats the score?.

The PG1 box was never stadard in a metro, although i know people who have put them in paired up to a 1.8 engine to help get the power down as 160bhp in a car that weighs less than a saxo is difficult! As far as im aware most K-series engines had the r65 box, just with a variety of ratio's. But some of the VVC's did have the PG1! But it isnt a straight swap from a r65 to a pg1!
