hi.....im a new female member.....and my lovely saxo is very sick. been told i need a new head gasket.....at a premium of £700....are there any budding saxo mechanics who can help a damsel in distress?

tbh that dont sound to bad price. best thing to do is shop around different places or look into getting it refurbed, might be a tad cheaper.

Oh, you've been told... Check if your car outputs some thick white smoke. If not, then your headgasket is fine. For your information, £700 is a ripoff, you could find another saxo for that price.

does sound like headgasket to me, shop around a bit because garages who see you have little knoledge about cars will take the piss and charge more. farmbourgh is down south near london isnt it? thats probley why its going to be a little more expensive lol

You might consider another low milage motor from the scrappy, as yours WILL be knackered after running it without oil anyway.
