#2Heli coil is certainly worth it, I did it on my old mauritius blue vtr.. took me a good hour or so to do, It's pretty straight forward if you have a rough idea on mechanical components.
I got my heli coil kit off ebay for £20 and the car never missed a beat after.. if anything the thread was stronger than it came out the factory. -
#3you did it in an hour?
Thats pretty good going to removed and refit the head.1 user thanked this post: -
#4^ lol

#6the head deffo has to cum off en? anyone got a clue to the size heli-coil to use? been told there diff sizes?
-
#7I've helicoiled heads still in place. It's not rocket science. Just have some form of swarf evacuation in place. Airline in the injector hole is a good one.
-
#9no it coes not -- but i wouldn,t use a helicoilQuote:the head deffo has to cum off en? anyone got a clue to the size heli-coil to use? been told there diff sizes?
"time sert" is what you want -- perfect solution will last forever.
If who ever is doing it doen,t know what one is then go somewhere else.
a"time sert" is a steel insert with threads on inside and outside ,
each size has a special fitting kit as you make new larger htread in head to screw the insert into -
#10''time-sert'' are they a one size fits all or avalible in different sizes if so wat size wud be needed?
-
#11As above i didn't have to take the head off.. did it whilst it was still on, Bit of grease around the lip to catch any metal particles.

#12Krys_23 what size heli-coil did u use on your's?
-
#14kk cheers m8

#15John, Whats the difference in the time sert? Obviously the seated top part, But does the lower threads expand in the hole when the thread screws down, thus making it more permanent than a helicoil?
-
#17ahh so the bottom few threads are pressed into the repair tap and the top seat stops the insert from turning. Cool!
