Alryt guy's, Thew questions.. My new vtr seems to run very warm, Will sit at 90 degree's when driving below 50mph, The minute you start to give it some welly above 50mph mark it seems to sit at 100 degrees! Sometime's even more...Fans seem to kick in at 100 degree's if not a little more. I'v checked over the car and cant find any signs of a gasket failure apart from the fact that the water in the coolant is disapearing evreyday almost. Obviously 100 degree's is boiling point for plain water so that'll explain that. Would a new thermostat go a miss or am i dealing with a much bigger problem? Cheer's!

#2you will lose water if the head gasket has failed- it goes out the exhaust

#3had the same problem, bleed the coolant system mate its airlocked id say, theres a bleed screw on the themostat housing. just open it you'll hear a hiss of air, but dont screw it out all the way, theres a small hole in the thread of the bolt for this reason, top up the expansion tank with coolant until you see coolant come out of the little hole in the bleed screw.........
hope this helps

#4Oh ryt, i bled it from the little plastic nipple to the top left of the engine above the engine mount, I'll give the thermostat houseing a go though. I'v got a new thermostat too if that's worth fitting?
-
#5there should be 3 bleeding points,
1-where you said you bleeded it from
2-one on the thermostat housing (think thats what its called) is a allen key to undo
3- should be on on the top of your radiator battery side -
#6would also be better to change the thermostat to rule that problem out, as you already have thatQuote:Oh ryt, i bled it from the little plastic nipple to the top left of the engine above the engine mount, I'll give the thermostat houseing a go though. #7Sweet, yea cheer's guy's! I'll give it a go tommorow and let you know if it worked!! Finger's crossed >.<

#8Why should an airlock cause it to loose water?Quote:had the same problem, bleed the coolant system mate its airlocked id say, theres a bleed screw on the themostat housing. just open it you'll hear a hiss of air, but dont screw it out all the way, theres a small hole in the thread of the bolt for this reason, top up the expansion tank with coolant until you see coolant come out of the little hole in the bleed screw.........

#9Well, I found out that my radiator had quite a bad leak in it, been raining so didnt relise. I fitted a new radiator earlier on today but managed to sheer off the little alan key bolt to bleed the thermostat
Other than that i think it may have worked!
