top left of the engine bay, there should be a valve carp, like on your tyres, loosen that till all air comes out and water starts to come out, next is the opne, bottom rite of your rocker cover, need a allen key, next one top right of the raidiator, its a rubber cap, may need some plyers top twist it.

If his heater is not working, is that not indicative that the water is not flowing around his radiator?
  10. #10
hi mate not sure if water is flowing or flowing as it should heaters are freezing cold but water is getting pushed back out of the water bottle and the fan don't seem to kick in ?? any help would be very grate full cheers everyone

  12. #12
no haven't change the water pump i thought that could be the problem ? whats the easiest way to change the water pump ?
  13. #13
undoing the 2 bolts, slacken the timing belt, remove pump. insert new pump do 2 bolts up re tension timing belt
  14. #14
am i right in saying that the water pump is as the bottom of the timing belt case but cannot fit my hand down to get at the bolts would i need to remove engine mount n drop engin little bit to get at it ? cheers

You cant just undo your water pump mate and throw it back on. its all sort of integrated with your timing belt. so you would need to time it all up again once timing belt removed. Not being harsh but by the sounds of your lack of knowledge leave it to a garage or someone who knows what they are doing. And if your mate is a mechanic why hasnt he fixed it properly?

He should be able to check if its head gasket failure. Theres a number of issues here that need addressing. If your going to do it yourself do the research, look on here, forums etc and buy yourself a haynes manual and start from the beginning.

If I where you Id re do the head gasket, whilst at it replace/check your cam belt kit and water pump and make sure all your cooling sytem is in good order, not blocked etc.

my mate hasnt fixed it because i asked him to do head gasket not everything else lol i have a haynes manual so i think i give it a go my self if it goes rong o well in it pmsl cheers for the help guy very gratefull

What litre engine is it? Wouldnt you consider a donor engine from Ebay or something? can get them cheap enough, probably be cheaper than doing head, gettin skimmed etc.
  18. #18
its a 1.1i i have considered a new engine but was going to use that as a last resort but may be should have been a first option lol what could the problem be thou no1 has a answer for me lol head gasket change themostat changed system has been bled as the guy above said only other thing is water pump
  19. #19
Well if it hasnt been done properyl then could be a number of things. Was the head warped? had it skimmed? If head failed a while ago then your coolant system could be blocked with shite, water pump, theres a load of things. Sure you can get an engine off Ebay for under £100, shouldnt take long to put in with being the 1.1.

To me that would be the cheaper and more sensible method. Or even if poss try get a rear ended car for a couple of hundred quid and swap it all over.

like above, because the head is aluminium when the gasket blows the head warps, you cant tell by looking but you will need it skimming, mine blew yesterday and i asked my tutor today, need the head skimming and replace the gasket.
