Click from throttle body

  1. #1
Hey guys, ive had a search but not really found anything conclusive.

Recently changed headgasket etc, but before I changed it and even more so afterwards ive had a loud click coming from the throttlebody while on idle. Obviously click gets faster as I rev the engine.

Before anyone mentions it, the noise is /not/ coming from my tappets. It is defo coming from the throttle body.

Is it meant to be making this click, if it is I don't think it should be that loud or often, and if its not what could be wrong?

    Thanks, Lawz

It's either the injector (I assume you have single pint injection) or maybe the idle speed stepper motor calibrating itself. It would not be something i would be concerned with unless it is effecting the running of the engine.

Note that you might be mis diagnosing the problem and it is in fact your valve clearences that need doing (AKA tappits).
