  1. #1
I did a search and i dint find the answer i was looking for basically i know you need to use a metal primer and then obv the matte top coat, but heres the question what do you do to seal the paint from the elements without lossing the matte finish?

i sprayed my wing mirrors up in matt black, all i did when i put them on was put back to black wax on them, no troubles so far.
but also depends what your spraying, don;t think u can get matt lacquar, but you'll always get a shine with lacquar i think. not to sure if hammerite do a matt finish as u said your spraying metel primer

I did my whole car, all i used was the paint itself. Bit of a rub over with te DA to take the clear coat of, then POW, halfords finest all over it.

    Came out well

Personally i'm a huge fan. I dislike the mismatch of matte paint and shiney paint, but i think fully matte cars look cool

i do remember that thread tonto there were some sexy animals in there!! What about satin black instead of matte?
  13. #13
Satin is harder to do yourself, you get "wet" patches when using satin.

hmmm...... what would happen if i just leave it in the black primer that new panels come in?

am contemplating doing this myself as my car has been repeatedly keyed silly little arses think its funny. Would have to ensure all dents are filled and smoothed otherwise they'll show up lile a bitch.

If you leave it in the matt primer it comes in then eventually it will rust, for my grill I used Halfords High temp matt Black engine paint its good did not even use primer & 6 months on all is good(okay i know its plastic not metal)on the can it says something like no need for primer.
