has anyone got a rough idea how much a windscreen for a 1999 saxo would be? could i get one from breakers and would it be bonded in??

To buy new from autoglass i'm pretty sure they're around the 250 mark however most insurance companies will do it for around 75quid mark. Alternativly you could buy one from a breakers for around 20 quid and pay someone 50-60 to fit it, or just attempt yourself for free/price of the silicon stuff but I doubt it's easy.

damnnn im only third party. 250 quid is an extortionate amount. how would i go about gettin the windscreen from breakers? i heard you have to cut the bonding with cheese wire or somethin similar? sorry im new to this sorta stuff haha

Well any decent breakers will take it off for you and then you can take it home but ul be looking like said above, around 50-60 to get it fitted. So prob around 100 total. You could also check out ebay im sure they will have some, or you could get a full membership here for a tenner and look in the for sale section as there is loads of saxos being split everyday and u could deff get a windscreen locally from someone.

If it helps clear it up, all the screens on Saxos are bonded in.

    +1

If i was needing a new screen, for piece of mind I'd just get a brand new one. No danger of it splitting / cracking when trying to get one out of another car, and also no scratches or chips... I've seen a chip turn into a crack within a couple of days on an old AX.

Also, make sure you go to someone reputable when you fitted. They have to 'cut' (putting it bluntly) the old screen out, which can take off some paint. If the new screen isn't sealed in properly, you could end up with some lovely rust around the edges of the screen few months down the road.

Seen this, so this statement is from first hand experience.

I used a local company a few days ago to replace mine, £130 all in. Autoglass wanted £290, I told them where to go.
