Ive had my vtr alloys shot blasted, and the guy at the body shop has told me that they have been blasted very harsh and that i wont be able to spray them with rattle cans.. They do feel rough but surely thats how they get when they have been blasted?? I cant be arsed paying for them to be powdercoated so really want to do them with cans. Theres pics of them on my progress thread on the last page if anyone wants to have a quick look..

Cant i just sand them and primer them or not?

Job to tell by the pics how rough they are. Having said that, you could try wet and dry paper 1000 / 1200 grit, and give them a few spray coats of primer?

They look alright to sand, prime and spray to me Maybe the company were just trying to get more money out of you?

Juat get yourself a pack of mixed grades of wet and dry and see how you go,

Give it a few coats of primer and see what the finish is like after that, looking at the pics you are going to be fine mate, may just need to put a few more coats on.

as above, go for some 180 grit then 320 grit then wetsand 1200 grit

The paint shop that told me couldnt paint them for me so werent trying to make money out of me. I also think they will be ok with a few layers of primer. So do i just prime them how they are now, or do i sand them smooth first then primer?

Go through the grades of wet and dry first,

    Primer

    Sand down again

    Paint

    Sand again for perfect finish

Halfrauds sells the mixed packs for just a couple of quid, just remember to use quite a few layers of primer to try and fill the bad areas, but as above filler if there really bad.

Try getting your self a few cans of high build primer should give you a nice even surface to paint.
