got a 2002 vtr when clutch pedal is disengaged there is a chattering sound from engine when the clutch pedal is pressed down the noise goes away, what could be causing this??

I have a similar problem to this. Noise is really quiet though, barely noticeable.
My girlfriend had this problem really badly in her polo. Turned out one of the coils in the engine had gone affecting the emissions.

thrust bearing? if its lose it will make a noise, mines like this atm! jus gonna get a whole new clutch cos mines on the way out anyway

more than likely the release bearing (thrust) but also the input bearing on the gearbox can cause a similar issue
