Crankcase Breather Filter, is it legal?

   Hi All,
   
   I am thinking of getting the following enclosed induction kit:-

   But I need my car to pass MOT checks for the next couple of years. I was wondering if anyone knows about how legal it is to just wack a breather filter on the end so that the fumes hang around the engine bay or do I need to make some kind of system so that it gets re-used through the air system?
   
   Will MOT check this?

   its not fumes, its oil vapour.
   
   will be fine, although you will get oil on the bonnet and surrounding areas making a nice mess.
   
   best options are a catch tank or plumb it back into the airfilter

   Shall I get a piece of breather pipe, attach the following Inline filter to catch the oil:-

   then more piping to somewhere the fumes can go, say, underneath the car somewhere? and put another filter on it?

   When you say crankcase breather filter do you mean one of those little filters which plug into the rocker cover where the normal breather house plugs in?

   basically ive got a length of smaco hosing one end on the rocker cover, then goes to the front of the car with a crankcase breather filter on the end.

   What i have is a oil catch tank. it's on my progress thread, it's still being done. you have one tube coming from the rocker cover, one tube going to the intake and the other coming from the crankcase. This regulates crankcase pressure and allows the engine to rev higher due to less pressure and increases throttle response. If you have a filter fumes come into the car, which isn't very nice to be honest.

   Thanks Frankie! thats exactly what I wanted to do! mainly because i'm worried about
   1) oil going everywhere
   2) not passing an MOT
   
   i've been told if you can hide where the breather exhausts to then MOT will assume its all working ok.

    ive put mine through an mot with just the hold plastic hosing on...
    
    they did'nt bat an eyelid.
    
    all in all, i think my method cost about £80 lol
    
    £30 for catch tank
    £30 for the samco hose (but i bet you can find cheaper on ebay)
    £20 for the breather.

    The only reason they have a ccb is for emmisions compliance for when they sell the engines/cars. When they test the engines they would have to measure emissions from the crankcase, like we have to. But nope not checked on MOT! btw quite interested in thr catch tank idea thanks to frankie (Y) i have mine currently vented to atmosphere/engine bay.
