F-ing noise.

Hi guys, I have a Saxo VTS 02 plate, it is making a really really annoying noise. When you start the car up it makes a low pitch squeaking noise, when you rev the engine the noise gets worse, also when driving the faster you go the louder the noise gets. If I dip the clutch the noise drops down to what its like at idle. I have tried to identify the noise in the engine bay (really hard to say with accuracy though), it seems to be coming from one of the pulleys that the alternator belt is on or it could be coming from the pulleys that are encased in the cam-belt case. Does anyone have any ideas what it could be ?
The only thing I can say with some certainty is that it must be linked to the engine as the noise rises when the car accelerates and decreases when the car slows or the clutch is dipped.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

remove alt belt and run engine that way you can tell if it alternator/belt.if you still have noise then it is engine driven which could be water pump/cam belt tensioner/idler

Think I found the problem ! I went into my car yesterday 2 find a shit load of water etc in each foot-well. I have now taken out the entire dash board e.t.c and taken out the heater unit and matrix. The matrix has blown hence all the engine coolant in the car. Anyone know where I can purchase a decent 2nd hand heater unit (it broke when I took it out) and also a new heater matrix. I'm now hoping that the sound the car was making originally was the water / coolant pump trying to pump an ever decreasing amount of water around the coolant system.
