don't fancy de-cat, as i can't be bothered with all the MOT trouble
does anyone know what sport cat's are like? witha 4-2-1 mani.
    something like

i have a miltek 4-1 manifold with sportscat

I really like it, revs are freed up. can't really compare it to a decat though as i have never had one.

What do you want to know about them?
  4. #4
takes 5 mins to jack up a car and change a cat over.

a true fact is a saxo spends 99% of its time jacked up lol

This is the route I reckon I'll eventually go down, been keeping my eye out for the exact janspeed (as that is the only aftermarket make that does it for the saxo iirc) but they are just so expensive!

Supposed to be decent, few gains over standard and with the knowledge knowing you're saving the environment a little more

just want a comparison to a decat really
    and also to standard
want to see if its worth it really...

I read in fast ford once that one of the big ford tuners (reyland) did a test with a 700bhp skyline to see whether there was any gains to be had with a de-cat over sports cat. They found there was almost no difference in power with either.

I got mine second hand off here mate

Keep an eye out, they are rare but do come up every so often

Yeah sport cat's are great. You get almost identical gains as a decat, in both power(be it minimal) and throttle response. just very pricey

I had a janspeed 200cpsi sports cat on a clio 172, it made a world of diffrence, and its peace of mind come mot time. I would recommend them to anyone.

you do have a fair point lool.
yes i have a magnex sports cat on mine. just a tiny little box sat in the middle. is nice tbh sounds a bit louder then a standard cat and revs bounce nicely. they dont come cheap tho so if your budgeted your best off with a decat which do pretty much the same thing and you can change a cat over in a matter of minutes tbh. just come exhaust paste and a crash helmet and your away

we had a ep3 civic type r in my work with a jackson supercharger and it failed on emissions with no cat obviously so we fitted a sports cat to it and it still failed just a warning as it cost a fortune and didnt help. so id just be tempted to swap for mot's to be honest

ive had my saxo de-cated 4 3 yrs and it never fails the mot as its still sound on imissons supose ity boils down to mot testers discresion in some cases

did a normal map fix it or did the fuel mapping need to be improved?
Due to their straight through design a sports cat is not going to be anywhere near as effective as a standard type.
