scratching noise?

   Hi guys,
   
   my '99 saxo has recently started to make a scratching noise when first starting up. Also when driving along its fine but as soon as i take my foot off the accelerator it makes it as well. Ive checked the oil level and seems ok. Any ideas? I wondered if it was something to do with the brakes but about 3 months ago i took it to the garage to have the brakes checked and was told with the low milage i do i should get another 9 months or so out of them so dont know if its them or not?

   alternator, worn clutch bearing or maybe g/box output

   Cheers, any idea how much to get each of them fixed assuming one of them is the problem?
