Engine Breathing

   I saw a question popping up about this which wasnt answered, and im sure some of you will will know the answer to my question.
   
   When i had the breather filter on my car, i found that there was oil rushing through the oil breather, and it was going everywhere.
   
   From reading, this means the engine isnt "breathing" properly.
   
   What does this really mean, and whats the ways around it to get it to work correctly?

   ditch the oil breather filter, it means there is too much pressure in the engine. The only way i can think to describe it is:
   Running the 400m breathing only through a straw

   Is too much pressure a bad thing?
   
   Or is it a good thing?

   normally results in the dipstick shooting out and oil spraying everywhere

   Hmm then again that was before my mechanic took the car for it's service - changed the oil because it was not the correct one for the engine (was too thick I think he told me) he's just changed it again for the winter so maby the wrong oil was the cause of it?

   hi tom, can this be sorted by taking all of the breather pipes off and giving them a good clean out? pretty sure mine are slightly blocked causing high pressure.

    yer and throwing away any breather filters which are bolted onto or close to the rocker cover

    good stuff, gone back to standard air box with panel filter + cold air feed, so much better with oil loss problem!!
    
    Got a £150 bmc filter lying around in my room now

    was an ebay job for my birthday. my parents just typed in "BMC CDA" on ebay motors and bought the first one they saw. So technically it wasnt my money but still bad times.

    I GOT THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MY SET UP THE 2 BREATHERS ON THE REAR ROCKER COVER (16V) SMALL ONE NOT GOIN ANYWHERE BIGISH ONE TO THE RIGHT OF IT PISSES OIL OUT EVERY WHERE GOT A CATCH TANK COMEING SOON BUT DONT KNOW IF IT WILL FILL UP TOO QUICK WENT FROM TAUNTON TO READING AND BACK AND AGAIN THE NEXT Day used about 2 liters of oil expencisive stuff from services i know the turbo smokes abit but what els can i do any one got any ideas
