Can someone tell me whether this will fit on my VTR?

    Hi Guys,

I have been looking around for ages and i have found what looks to be the correct panel for my saxo mk2 2000 VTR.

Can any of you take a LOOK at this and please tell me if this will fit the VTR.

    Thanks

It will fit on a mk2 saxo, but yours is a VTR, this is from a model with out the VT plastic kit on, and would require holes being drilled to fit the plastic arch extension from the VT kit onto it.

Also, from the pic (or it may be my screen), it's a job to say if its in decent condition really.

    I hope this helps.

Edit: On further inspection, if it was me I'd say no. Look around scrappies or breakers yards. Check on the web for citreon specialists etc.

No worries mate. Ring around some breakers and scrappies and see what they have. there are a number of specialist ones which you can find on the net. There is one in Billericay, but he can be a bit pricey. If you'd like the name then PM me (not allowed to ''advertise'' on a public forum).

On the other side of the coin, if you saw a good one but in a different colour, theres nothing to stop you spraying it

Thanks for that mate, ill PM you now for those details.

With regards to the other side of the coin i have seen lots of different colours around in decent condition (typical) however i always presumed if i did re-spray it it wouldn't match my car because of the age of the car and the length of time the paint has been on it, most likely the paint has faded etc... will look a bit silly!?

Depends on the condition of your paintwork really, to be fair if you use the genuine citroen paint you should be alright with matching colour (you can get your paint code from the sticker where your door hinges are on the drivers side when you open the door, it also tells you tyre pressures, if you didn't know this).

The genuine citroen paint comes in a 150ml spray tin, and is suplied with a 150ml spray tin of laquer too.

Oh right nice one mate. So go to citroen to get this paint then? and would i need to primer the original wing or paint straight onto the existing colour.

If you were to get a second hand wing, in good condition (i.e no scratches or dents etc, also making sure its gor the correct holes in it for the VT arch), you would need to prep it. I strongly recomment you don't undertake this route, unless you have experience and skill painting with spray cans, and are able to get an even finish etc.

You'd need to use wet and dry paper to key the paint for priming. As laquer and paint is relatively 'thin' on modern cars, you could get away with 1200 grit I'd have thought, or something thereabouts. But don't go through the paint. Then you can prime it with a spray can primer, leave to dry for 30 mins to make sure its hardened nicely, then repeat another once or twice. Then you're ready to do the same with the colour (this will be left longer to harden ideally between coats), and the same with laquer.

To be fair, for the time and hassle (and the fact you may not get a good finish), you'd be best ringing around body shops.

I can't see it being more than £40 to spray it properly. But ring for quotes.

    I type far too much

Mate i'd prefer you type too much than too little, thanks very much for this man.
I can pick up a brand new front wing standard, no colour for 50 quid so its probably worth getting a body shop to spray it afterwards i suppose. Cheers mate.

Depends on your budget. But to be fair, my motto is if you want it right, you can't have a low budget. What you've said is what I would do in your shoes.

im pretty sure there is a possi blue wing in the for sale section not sure if its mk1 or mk2 though. problem with getting it sprayed it the risk of it actually getting a perfect match to your cars paint.
